Exfoliating is good for the face, body and soul.

If there’s anything your skin needs after a long Monday, it’s something to get rid of all the toxins and dirt that your skin has acquired throughout the day. That something is a good exfoliator.

If you don’t already know, exfoliating is a skincare technique that helps to remove dead skin cells from your face and body. You’re essentially removing a layer of your skin. While that sounds a little gross, it actually has lots of benefits. It brightens your complexion and helps other products to deeply penetrate your skin, essentially making them work better. Top tip: exfoliate before you fake tan for it to stay on your skin longer and look more real.

To exfoliate, you can either use a tool (a mit or a face cloth) or simply use an exfolating lotion which will include a sugar-like texture. Alternatively, you can use a chemical exfoliation method which involves the likes of a chemical peel or a face wash that has Glycolic Acid in.

Exfolation shouldn’t be part of your everyday skincare regime, more like 2-3 times per week depending on your skin type. If you have sensitive skin, keep exfoliation minimal and gentle, perhaps using a face cloth. Otherwise, just don’t it more than 5 times a week as you don’t want to turn your skin red or make it sore by over-exfoliating.
