Have you thought about getting semi-permanent eyebrows? Here’s everything you need to know about it before you do.
If you haven’t heard of it, seen it on Instagram (where have you been?), or had it done, then here’s the lowdown on everything you need to know about the brow-keeping trend which has been sweeping the internet since 2018.
If you’re fed up of trying to grow out your brows and want an instant, perpetual fix, then microblading might just be the thing for you. It’s a form of semi-permanent makeup for your eyebrows. Rather than tinting them and desperately having to fill them in everyday, when you’ve had them professionally microbladed you will be left with incredibly full and fabulous looking brows. Aarti Dahiya from Browhaus London tells us more.
If your regular salon doesn’t have microblading treatments available it can feel a little intimidating finding someone who you trust to do it. If you’ve ever moved to a new city and had the struggle of looking for a new hairdresser, you’ll know the feeling. If you find one you like, Aarti always recommends looking at previous work from the beautician is always a good idea, she suggests, “just do you know that the results you want can be achieved.”
Like any hair colouring or beauty appointment, you need to make sure that your skin won’t react badly to the treatment. Aarti explained that the same things goes for microblading. “Before you get yourself booked in for the treatment it is essential that you have a patch test and a thorough consultation with your therapist.”
Prepping for the procedure is key, so a consultation beforehand is necessary. “Before the treatment itself you will have to stop the use of any products that may contain AHAs, BHAs and retinol. During the consultation the therapist will also have a look at your medical history to ensure you are able to have the treatment. You will not be able to have the treatment if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, suffer from keloids, are undergoing chemo therapy. These are just a few examples so please be sure that you get yourself booked in for a consultation.”
If you’re thinking about getting your brows microbladed, ensure you know exactly what you want – it is semi-permanent after all and you don’t want to walk away feeling unhappy with the results. Make sure you are going to a trusted therapist and have undergone all pre-treatment checks to make sure that it is safe to go ahead with it.
