A survey, carried out by decorating brand Harris, found that the UK’s favourite scent is freshly baked bread. Close contenders also included cooked bacon, freshly cut grass and coffee. You can detect over one trillion smells

In a recent study, scientists gave participants multiple vials with combinations of different aromas. Each participant was asked to discern which vial had a completely different blend of smells than the others.

Researchers estimated that we can single out over 1 trillion scents based on these results. However, since the scientists had limited smells to work with, this figure doesn’t cover our whole smell-spectrum.
