Skincare shouldn’t be, but sometimes can feel like such a chore. After a long day of work, meetings, gym, and whatever else you’ve squeezed into the last 16 hours, standing over your skin scrubbing at your face and applying every serum under the sun can feel more than unappealing. All you want to do is lie down, fuel up with some good food and wipe your face off with a makeup wipe (or 5). As it’s National Lazy Day, we’re taking the opportunity to create the perfect lazy skincare guide for those of you who know you need to treat your skin with love and care, but really, really can’t be bothered to do so.

Get products that don’t require a sink

One of the biggest setbacks when it comes to keeping up a regular skincare regime is the first step: making it to the bathroom. If you know, you know. Now, we’re not saying never head to the sink for a good cleanse because somethings in life are just necessary; however, there are ways around it occasionally so that you can sort your face out from your comfy spot on the sofa.

Erno Laszlo Multi-Phase Makeup Remover

It’s not as good as a proper cleanse, but if you’re feeling lazy every now and again, then this product is far better than using the dreaded wipes to take off your makeup. Take away the day (or night) by gently removing face, eye and lip makeup while soothing and hydrating your skin. Use a cotton pad to wipe across your face and remove any form of product leftover. Combining the dissolving properties of oil with botanical extract-boosted water, this quick-acting formula easily removes makeup and soothes tired eyes. It also contains a medley of naturally-derived ingredients to calm and condition skin.

Skin & Tonic Detox Beauty Oil

Oils are your must-have skincare wonders. They work in so many ways, yet they’re stored in one small bottle that is easy to keep anywhere (especially places that don’t include your bathroom cabinet). This purifying face serum is made using watermelon, black cumin and Bergamot oils to help reduce bacterial growth, balance sebum levels and control breakouts. Apply a couple of drops to your face with fingertips and massage into your skin in a circular motion. Add a couple of drops to your daily moisturiser for a hydrating boost.

Try products that serve more than one purpose

Products that do more than one thing will be your lifesaver if you’re feeling a little lazy – the less you have to do, the better. Finding multi-tasking products makes everything easier while still making sure that your skin is receiving the TLC that it needs, just in a more condensed form.

Ecooking Peeling Mask

This Peeling Mask is a multi-taking anti-ageing dream. The content of plant extract and Vitamin E in the peeling mask decreases the appearance of creases and wrinkles and at the same time it gives a smoother and younger look. 100% vegan. Start by using the mask for 4-6 minutes, depending on your skin type and then extend the time slowly and end up using the mask for approximately 10-12 minutes at a time. It will prickle and pinch and the skin will become red afterwards – for that reason, the best time to use the mask is before bedtime. The remains of the mask can be removed by rubbing but do not fear, this does not mean that the skin is peeling.

Use an overnight mask

Using an overnight mask product will mean you can skip the moisturising step, which results in… you guessed it! Less to smother on your face. Once you’ve popped this on your cheeks you can relax knowing that your skin will be working it’s magic while you sleep soundly. This is possibly the easiest skin care routine that you can do, so there are no excuses not to wake up with glowing skin.

Balance Me Restore and Replenish Overnight Repair Mask

Balance Me’s Restore and Replenish Overnight Mask is designed to enable your skin’s repair process to work with ease. This 99% Natural super hydrating overnight skin comforter was made to restore the skin’s protective moisture barrier, replenishing vital nutrients to reveal a brighter, plumper and more radiant complexion by morning. No need to moisturise, simply pop this on and head to bed.

Combine your SPF into another product

If you didn’t know about SPF already, then get to know, because it is super important to wear on a daily basis. While we’re not expecting you to be lathering up the sun-cream under your makeup every day, we do expect you to use it on your face everyday. This is easily done when you shop for products – mainly moisturisers and foundations – that already include an SPF factor in them.

Trilogy Multi-Shield Moisturiser with SPF 15

Trilogy’s Rosehip Multi-Shield SPF 15 is a versatile performance moisturiser that nourishes with natural hydrating ingredients, while providing broad spectrum UVA, UVB and Blue Light protection from natural and artificial light sources, inside and out. Enriched with rosehip oil and innovative fresh water algae, this non-greasy, easily absorbed non-nano formulation wears well under make-up and improves the skins defence against premature ageing caused by UV & Blue light.

Skip the steps that are unnecessary or don’t work for you

Not all skincare is necessary. It all benefits you, but if you went without it your skin wouldn’t deteriorate. Toner is one of those steps; it’s great if you can add it into your regime, but if you can’t it’s also okay.

If using a serum is making your skin too oily or if your exfoliator is making your skin too dry, then don’t do it. Just because that magazine said you need to use it or your best friend has told you how incredible it’s made their skin, does not mean you need to follow suit. Everyone’s skin type is different, therefore everyone needs different routines and products, so just because someone else has used something – don’t use it if it’s not right for you.

Sleep

In case you needed another reason to hit the snooze button, luckily for all of you lazy people out there, one of the easiest ways to save your skin is to get a good night’s sleep. During the night while you are sleeping is when your skin is working hard to repair and rejuvenate itself. There’s a reason we’re advised to get 8-9 hours sleep a night, and it’s not just to prevent a groggy mood in the morning. Our skin is more receptacle to products meaning that this is prime time for our skin cells to absorb products (this is why that sleep mask is so important).

So there we have it, our skin guide for lazy people. Let us know in the comments what your go-to lazy skincare product is!
