Ever wondered whether you should wear blusher or bronzer, or both?

Bother blusher and bronzer are essentials in our beauty bags to accentuate our cheekbones and add a bit of colour into our complexions. You might use one of them, blusher or bronzer, or you might use (or own) both. You’ve probably figured out your regular makeup routine and they’ve fallen into place overtime, but do you ever wonder why you wear them, when you should wear them and if you should even be wearing them together? Us too, so we did some digging for you.

The difference between them: blusher or bronzer

Without complicating things, the two have different purposes but do similar things. Blusher is used to add a flush of colour to your cheeks, and bronzer is used to make you look more tanned or a little more sunkissed. I order to do these jobs, typically, blusher products come in shades of pinks, peaches and plum, whereas bronzers tend to come in more glowing, golden or brown colours.

Both can come in powder, liquid or cream forms which can differ depending on your skin type or even on what time of year it is. However, one more notable difference between them is how you apply them. Bronzer can be applied on your cheekbones, or on all the contours of your face like your jawline and brow for an all over sunkissed effect. Blushers are a little more situated and tend to only be worn on your cheekbones or in the apples of your cheeks for a natural flush.

When to wear them:

When it comes to both blusher and bronzer, less is more. They tend to come heavily pigmented and so using too much can end up looking a bit OTT. Both can add a natural colour or an all-out glow, it just depends on what mood and look you’re going for. If you start off with less, you can easily build on it. Blusher is great for an every day makeup look, subtle or not, it doesn’t look overdone. Bronzer is great for evening or weekend looks when you might want your makeup to be noticed a bit more.

While bronzer can absolutely be worn all year round, it’s technically there to enhance tanned looks which naturally makes it a good choice for the warmer months. Blusher can be beautiful in spring for a natural flush and can be used for a rosy glow in the winter.
