Keep your hair in sweet condition during these last weeks of summer sun.
Over the course of the summer our hair has it pretty tough. Enduring sea, sand and sunshine takes its toll on our locks and so now that the summer is coming to an end (as if it hasn’t rained for 50% of it anyway) then we need to be giving it some TLC.
Stay away from the electrical heat
This is the easiest solution that doesn’t require spending any money on hair saving products. While the sun rays are already beaming down on our hair, it’s a good idea to use electricals as much as possible. Leave your hair to dry naturally (it will do so quickly while it’s warm) and try not to use your curling wands and straighteners as much as usual. Why not let the beach hair flow instead using Sachajuan Ocean Mist Spray and extend that holiday feeling. Using additional heat will cause extra, unnecessary damage.
Use a hair mask
Using a treatment once a week regularly will keep your hair feeling and looking healthy. For post-holiday haircare, nourishment and restoration is absolute key, so hair masks are a super easy solution. Whether you want to use one that you leave in overnight or that you just bask your hair in for 30 minutes, we’ve got the perfect products for you. For an overnight remedy we love Bumble & Bumble While You Sleep mask, it helps reverse the effects of damaged hair. If you’re a little short on time, Oh K!’s Coconut Hair Mask is at your nourishing rescue.
Protect your hair in the first place
Even if you’re not using electrical heat on your hair (and especially if you are) you should use a heat protecting cream, spray or mousse. Briogeo’s Farewell Frizz Heat Protecant Crème doesn’t only prevent the dreaded summer heat frizzing, but it protects your hair in temperatures up to 230°C.
Aside from drowning your hair in various products in order to keep it healthy, try these top tips:
- If you’re jumping in the pool, wet your hair with water first. Your hair strands can only absorb so much water, so if it absorbs the normal water before the chlorine, it won’t penetrate so much.
- Pop that sun hat on that you bought three years ago and have never worn. Sheltering your hair from the direct sunlight will help the health of it a lot. It will also protect your scalp from burning.
- Stay in the shade. In the same way that wearing a hat will help, this will too. Every little helps!
