We’ve tried it for you.

Oilixia’s Explorer Facial Blend is not only bottled in a dreamy aquamarine pipetted flacon that will pleasantly decorate any beauty cabinet. It’s a magical potion that is made up of 21 different oils that were inspired by the most natural, potent ingredients from around the world. This little miracle in a bottle features three key active ingredients: Cacay oil, which is rich in retinol, helps to restore a youthful and radiant complexion; Paracress Plant extract which helps to firm the skin by tightening collagen fibres; and Tomato Fruit extract for it’s antioxidant and brightening elements.

At first, I couldn’t decide if 21 different oils was intimidating or if it filled me with confidence, but I settled on the latter. My skin is vulnerable to regular break outs, so I am always a little wary about straying from my trusty skincare routine in case I provoke anything major erupting on my face. With caution, I researched everything I needed to know about the Explorer Blend Facial Oil and was enticed by the Cacay Oil and Tomato Fruit extract. I have previously used a retinol serum and was pleased with the results, and with knowledge of Tomato’s antioxidant properties I was excited to try it. My only concern was that in the past, I’ve had trouble with oils and serums actually absorbing into my skin and they’ve resulted in my face just looking greasy, nevertheless, I was intrigued.

My first impressions were that it smells great. I incorporated it into my current skincare routine which features Liz Earle’s Hot Cloth Cleanser, Garnier Micellar Water, The Ordinary’s Glycolic 7% Toning Solution, It’s Skin Power 10 Formula VC Effector and an Aldi Rejuvenating Night Cream. I popped the Explorer Blend on my face after the toner. It’s made to be a light consistency which was really easy to rub into my skin without it looking like I had just oiled up, which for me was a pleasant surprise. It also was absorbed into my skin quickly which meant I didn’t have to wait an age to put my night cream on – the struggle can be real. I used it every night for 10 days and these were the results.

As you can see my skin had just broken out and red blemishes covered my chin and mouth area especially. My skin in general was a red colour and so I had hope that the elements of this product would help with both colouring and blemishes. Let’s see what happened after 10 days of usage.

You can visibly see that the redness in my skin has reduced and the blemishes have almost gone too, so I was really impressed with this product. I know that nothing literally works overnight, but even after one use my skin instantly felt and looked revitalised when I woke up. I’ve been using Oilixia’s Explorer Blend Facial Oil ever since and I am constantly seeing improvements in my skin. I would really recommend this to anyone who, like me, has oily combination skin and is prone to break outs and flare ups.

Overall, I am super excited by this product and I’m excited to try out more of Oilixia’s collection. I think this facial oil is a new contender for my regular skincare routine.
