Note to self: change all the clocks!
Apart from having an unexpected lie-in, there are so many things that you can do to make the most of this extra hour in the day.
While it may be tempting (or maybe you haven’t realised the clocks have gone back), having a lie-in is definitely not how to make the most out of this extra hour. Your body clock will more than likely wake you up at it’s usual time, which will now be an hour earlier. Don’t be fooled and let yourself fall back to sleep! Get yourself up, grab yourself a coffee and start your day before the rest of the world – just have an early night later.
So, what to do with this extra time? You might ask. Here’s a few ideas we’ve got for you.
Go for a walk or run…
How often do we use the excuse ‘I don’t have time’ when it comes to exercise? Well, we can’t use that one this time! With the clocks going back, the mornings will be lighter, so take advantage of this and head out into the crisp, cold morning for a brisk walk or a jog. You’ll come back feeling refreshed and revitalised, and will be one step ahead of everyone who chose to stay in bed.
Catch up on your latest book…
A bit like exercise, reading is another hobby that we all struggle to find time for. Why not prop yourself up in bed with a coffee, or head to your favourite corner of the sofa and lose yourself in whatever story you’re currently reading. Likewise, dive into that pile of magazines that you keep picking up and forgetting to read. Your brain will thank you for not turning straight to your phone.
Make your favourite breakfast…
Okay so this one might need a little more prep, but you have all the time in the world to nip to the shops if you need to. Forget your slice of dry toast or bland bowl of porridge… grab something colourful, indulgent and even a little bit naughty. Everyone loves a good brunch, breakfast, whatever you want to call it, and now is the perfect time to make your favourite.
Stretch or do some yoga…
If exercise isn’t really your thang, there are other ways to get your body moving. A simple stretch will get your blood flowing, or if you’re really feeling it, get your downward dog on and do some yoga. Whether you’re a pro, beginner, or just fancy a roll around on the floor, doing it first thing in the morning will really set you up for the rest of the day.
Whatever you do with your time, we hope you thoroughly enjoy your extra hour in the day. We’ll be taking time to exercise and make something delicious to feast on for breakfast afterwards. Let us know in the comments what you get up to!
